The Desire of Lead

Following "Byakuya ni Madie", I added English subtitles to the recently released "Lead's Desire".

As usual, it's difficult. To begin with, Japanese and English are different (of course).

The most annoying part of translating Japanese lyrics into English is probably "word order". Japanese is based on "subject + object + verb", while English is "subject + verb + object". Therefore, it's not so difficult to translate a whole sentence into English, but it's not so easy to translate a phrase with a melody.

For example, "The Night of Joy Dances Before Your Eyes" in "Lead's Desire" becomes "The Night of Joy Dances Before Your Eyes" in English, and I can't help but separate it into two parts.

Also, I overheard a rumor that "subtitles are avoided in English-speaking countries, and even if subtitles are added, they must be displayed only about 4 words at a time for people to read them. Four words at a time is a pretty big hurdle to overcome, isn't it?

I think it's not something that can be lumped together with "in English-speaking countries", but I think that "in English-speaking countries, there are less opportunities to come into contact with subtitles than in Japan". There are many countries that use English, you know.

So, if you want to watch it in English, turn on the subtitles!

You can turn it on or off by clicking on the subtitle icon on the left side of the icons in the lower right corner of the screen when watching on a PC, or the "cc" icon in the upper right corner of the screen when watching on a smartphone.
